Welcome to the Federal Crimes and Sentencing thread that's being maintained by Steigerwalt & Associates. Our firm has years of collective experience in defending the rights of those accused of federal crimes, and these issues are always quite stressful for those who are facing an indictment.

Anyone who's seen the news recently no doubt has heard the story of Michael Vick, the famous quarterback of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons. Vick was brought under scrutiny by the federal government after a long and circumstantial chain of events.

The state of Virginia originally entered the property owned by Vick to execute a drug-related warrant on Vick's cousin, who was living in the house at the time. While on the property, state authorities discovered what was possibly a dog fighting operation.

The state considered filing charges, but never executed a warrant. Soon thereafter, the federal government got involved, and after a brief investigation, Vick plead guilty to charges stemming from the operation.

What this should tell you is that when the federal government is involved, you should not take it lightly. You need a strong, experienced legal advocate working for your rights, so contact our firm if you're facing any potential criminal problem that's federal in nature.

I'm the victim of a third degree assault that happen a year ago. In two weeks I'm going to the court to find out the sentence. By question is, she pleaded guilty and it was reduced for a simple assault how much time can this person get in jail.
